From bare ground to planted yard
A landscape is only as good as what's under it. If the grade sheds water the wrong way or the soil was never prepped, the lawn thins and the beds sink no matter how good the plants are. We build the ground first and plant into it after.
- Landscape design and full build. We plan the layout and build the whole thing, or work from a design you already have.
- Grading, drainage and soil prep. Getting the levels and the water right before anything goes in. The drainage under a lawn matters as much as it does under a driveway.
- Lawns and turf. Seed or sod, laid on soil that's been graded and prepped so the grass takes instead of struggling.
- Garden beds and planting. Beds shaped, edged and planted for the site and the light it actually gets.
- Hardscape built in. Paving-stone patios and walkways and retaining walls built into the same project, by the same crew that does the planting.
- Ongoing landscape maintenance. We can keep it up once it's in. See property maintenance for mowing, bed care and the seasonal work.

Walk the yard, plan the layout
We come out and look at the whole yard, then work out a layout: what goes where, and how water should move across the site. You see the plan before the work starts.
Shape the ground, drainage and base
Before anything is planted or laid we do the ground work. We cut the grade so water runs the right way and compact a base under any hardscape, with drainage wherever the site needs it.
Lay hardscape, then soil, turf and plants
With the ground built, the finish goes on in order. Patios and walls first, then the topsoil, then the turf and plants. Doing it that way keeps the base clean and the planting undisturbed.

Why the order of the work matters
Ground first, plants second
Most landscapers plant on top of whatever grade is already there. We own the excavation and hardscape side, so the grading and the drainage get done right before a single plant goes in. That's the part you don't see and the reason the yard holds up.
Plant for the coast
Wet winters, heavy clay and shade decide what will actually grow here. We grade so water drains away from the roots and pick plants that suit the light and the rain instead of fighting them, with the soil amended to match.
Soft and hard together
You don't need one company for the patio and another for the planting. Paving stones, retaining walls and the lawn and beds around them come as one quote and one crew, which is cheaper to run and easier to hold to a schedule.
Keep it that way
