Coastal BC gets a handful of real snow days a year, and everything stops on every one of them. Add October windstorms and a month of sideways rain, and each season here comes with its own job list. We handle it, on contract or on call.
What each season breaks
The coast runs on a predictable script. Wind and rain arrive in October. Between December and February, two or three snow events shut down every driveway and parking lot at once. By March the yard is full of whatever the winter knocked down. The properties that come through cleanly booked in the fall.
- Snow clearing and salting. Driveways, strata roads and commercial lots, cleared and salted so people can get in and out.
- Storm and windfall cleanup. Downed limbs and blown debris cut up and hauled after a blow.
- Fall drainage checks. Gutters, downspout runs, culvert ends and catch basins cleared before the November rain finds the blockage for you. More on the drainage page.
- Spring reset. Winter gravel swept off, ruts regraded, beds and edges cleaned up for the season.
- Gravel driveway repairs. Potholes and washouts from winter rain, fixed before they grow. See driveways.

Fall prep
Drainage checked, gutters and culvert ends cleared, loose limbs flagged, the snow route booked. October is when you get ahead of the first freeze. December is when you phone around with everyone else.
Winter response
When snow lands, contract clients are already on the route. We clear and salt, and we log each visit so strata councils have a record. After a windstorm we cut up what came down and haul it off, so you're not climbing over it for a month.
Spring reset
We sweep up the winter's salt and gravel and regrade the ruts it left in the driveway. Whatever the storms dropped and nobody got to, we haul. The property goes into summer looking like nothing happened.
Coastal weather has habits
Wet snow, overnight ice
Snow here lands heavy and wet, then freezes hard once the temperature dips after dark. Same-day clearing matters more on the coast than in powder country, which is why a booked route beats a day-of phone call.
Atmospheric rivers
When a multi-day rain event parks over the coast, a plugged culvert turns into a flooded driveway or a washed-out slope. A fall drainage check costs an hour of attention. The repair costs considerably more.
Strata and commercial routes
For strata councils and commercial lots we log each visit with the date and what was done. If a slip-and-fall question ever comes up, the council has a record to point to.
